The mission of the College of Environmental Science and Forestry is to advance knowledge and skills and to promote the leadership necessary for the stewardship of both the natural and designed environments. SUNY-ESF is a small, close-knit community with a teaching, learning and research focus all on the natural environment. Students study engineering, chemistry, biology, environmental studies, natural resources management and landscape architecture. SUNY ESF strives to make this a better world through environmental discovery. ESF offers a one-of-a-kind education where every student is learning about meeting the environmental challenges facing all of us. Our roughly 1,600 undergraduates and 600 graduate students enjoy the benefits of small classes, excellent faculty, international programs and field experiences abound. SUNY-ESF students can take advantage of academic offerings at Syracuse University. Outside the classroom, SUNY-ESF students can live in Learning Communities, participate in Service Learning opportunities, and enjoy hundreds of sports and clubs at ESF or across the street at Syracuse University. In addition, ESF’s costs make our excellent education a remarkable value.
