Brooklyn College is an innovative, liberal arts college that offers graduate and undergraduate degrees and where every student is given the knowledge, awareness, and experience to succeed in life. Situated on a twenty-six-acre campus in the most dynamic borough of New York City, the College is ranked as a best value in the Princeton Review’s guidebook America’s Best Value Colleges for the third consecutive year and enjoys an international reputation for excellence. Emblematic of our students’ success is 2006 Truman Scholarship winner, Ryan Merola, one of only two New Yorkers to win the award this year. The award provides up to $30,000 to students pursuing graduate degrees in public service fields. And last year’s Rhodes Scholarship winner, Eugene Shenderov, is currently studying immunology at Oxford University.\r\n\r\nBrooklyn College enrolls 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students and offers 125 programs in the humanities, education, the arts, business, sciences, and social sciences leading to bachelor’s and master’s degrees and advanced certificates. In the Princeton Review’s 2003 edition of The Best 345 Colleges, Brooklyn College—with its Georgian-style buildings and landscaped Quadrangle—was named the “Most Beautiful Campus” in the United States.\r\n\r\nThe College has an ambitious program of expansion and renewal. The dazzling library is technologically the most advanced facility in the CUNY system. A state-of-the-art student services and physical education building, currently under construction, is scheduled to open in 2008.\r\nQuality education also requires excellent teachers, and Brooklyn College has a faculty distinguished by master teaching and scholarly achievement. Ninety percent of the Brooklyn College faculty hold the highest degree in their field. Among them are Fulbright and Guggenheim fellows, a National Book Award finalist, an Obie Award-winning playwright, three Pulitzer Prize-winning authors, and award-winning scientists and musicians.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the best measure of an excellent college is the success of its graduates. The College ranks nineteenth nationally in the number of undergraduates who have gone on to receive Ph.D. degrees.\r\n \r\nA superior faculty, high-quality academic programs, a commitment to student success, and more than seventy years of illustrious graduates give Brooklyn College a well-earned reputation as one of the nation’s most distinguished institutions of higher education.
