Stockton’s focus is on undergraduate teaching and learning in a Liberal Arts setting, with specialized graduate programs that are an outgrowth of, rather than an add-on to the curriculum. Our specialized General Studies programs ensure that students don’t simply take classes; they participate in an educational program that has elements of writing, quantitative reasoning, and multicultural studies. Service learning and participation in community activities are an important aspect of student learning. Student services areas are seen as extensions on learning, and opportunities to encourage leadership.\r\n\r\nNew Jersey’s Green College is celebrated through its award-winning building projects. Keeping its promise to be a steward of the environment, Stockton’s first commitment in construction is to the use of environmentally appropriate systems and materials to enhance the campus and remain true to its unique unspoiled environs. Stockton has continued to lead in the development of buildings that use alternative energy systems and sustainable designs.\r\n\r\nStockton received the prestigious 2008 Green Project of Distinction Award from Education Design Showcase for its Housing V residence hall project that incorporated geothermal heating and cooling using closed-loop technology and a design that would accommodate future solar thermal heating systems. This newest residence hall exemplifies the goal of the 2006 Facilities Master Plan that demonstrates Stockton’s commitment to plan and develop the campus in a way that celebrates and preserves the College’s unique natural environment and which reflects the College’s culture and programs.\r\n\r\nEach construction project for academic buildings and residential life undertaken by the College strives to refresh the vision for the campus and capitalize on the essence of Richard Stockton College as New Jersey’s Green College in the Pinelands that will create a compelling choice for high quality students.
