Students seeking close contact with faculty in a mentoring relationship, the opportunity to design their own major field(s) of study in the liberal arts and who are prepared to participate actively in a self-governing community will find an educational experience like none other. Our goal is to teach students to think clearly and learn independently through engagement in a structured program of liberal studies. Students are expected to develop a command of English and to strive for academic excellence informed by intellectual and artistic creativity; they are encouraged to acquire a passion for learning, discerning judgment and a global perspective. All students complete a self-designed Plan of Concentration, which represents their “major”. The Plan is often, but does not have to be, interdisciplinary in nature.
