University of Pittsburgh
Johnstown
The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown was founded in 1927 as one of the first regional campuses in the United States. Pitt-Johnstown is a four-year, degree-granting, fully-accredited, coeducational, residential undergraduate college of the University of Pittsburgh. With 3,000 well-rounded full-time students and suburban campus of striking beauty, Pitt-Johnstown combines the strong academic reputation and outstanding resources of a major research university with the personal appeal of a smaller college. There are thirty-six campus buildings, including a library, student union, sports center, performing arts center, and chapel, in addition to a 40-acre nature preserve and outdoor recreation areas. The college has six different styles of housing, including residence halls, small group lodges, apartments, and the Living/Learning Center. An aquatic center includes a weight room and exercise rooms. Students become involved in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. In addition, shops, entertainment, and cultural activities are conveniently available off campus, and the college is in the heart of Pennsylvania ski country.
