UNO is categorized as a SREB Four-Year 2 institution, as a Carnegie Doctoral Intensive, and as a COC/SACS Level VI institution. UNO is committed to graduate education through the doctorate, will conduct research appropriate to the level of academic programs offered, and will have a defined ratio of undergraduate to graduate enrollment. UNO will offer no associate degree programs. At a minimum, the university will implement Selective II admissions criteria. UNO is located in Region I.
