According to the school, he University of Charleston offers students a ‘learning your way’ curriculum. This means that students are encouraged to progress at their own pace and take competency-based tests where the students feel that they have acquired the requisite skills. There is no limit, or extra fees, attached to accelerated credit earning. Moreover, students are required to participate in freshmen learning communities which will foster peer learning and support, and students are encouraged to participate in service learning experiences. All of this is intended to give the student a well-rounded, individualized, learning environment.
