St. Francis College
Brooklyn Heights
Minutes from Manhattan, St. Francis College is the Small College of Big Dreams. With small classes taught only by professors, numerous internship opportunities and highly successful alumni who actively mentor undergraduates, students are offered a wealth of opportunities that will put them on the path to success in both their personal and professional lives.\r\nFor almost 150 years, the mission of St. Francis has been to provide an affordable, quality education to working class people who otherwise may not be able to attend college. Hundreds of succcessful graduates were the first in their family to attend college. Merit based scholarships that include full tuition for graduating high school students with a 90 average and 1150 on their SAT’s are the cornerstone of the College’s financial aid program.\r\nStudents participate on nearly 20 Division I athletic teams, including Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Volleyball and the nationally ranked Men’s Water Polo team.\r\nMajors at St. Franics range from classic liberal arts to pre-professional concentrations like Sports Management. A new five-year combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting is now offered, while other students take advantage of the unique HDTV production studio and art theater.\r\nThe Franciscan Tradition of the College ensures an educational environment that supports students and helps develop the whole person. All incoming freshman are required to take a one credit course entitled SFC 1001 which teaches time and stress management, success strategies, how to search for a major and a career, as well as where to get help while at St. Francis. Many go on to take SFC 2001, a life lessons course aimed at helping students in their sophomore year. This course gives students practical advice on things like how to search for a job or graduate school, how to prepare for an interview and how to make and keep connections with successful graduates of St. Francis.\r\nSt. Francis College expects all students to not just take classes and go home. They can join more than 40 clubs of varying interests, fraternities and sororities as well as honor societies. Students should become a vibrant part of the community, learning about social responsibility and mutual respect. These are the ingredients that allow St. Francis students to achieve their dreams.\r\n
