Silver Lake College’s unique heritage and culture owes much to its deeply woven relationship with the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. As antecedents of Clare and Francis of Assisi, today’s learning community draws joy and inspiration from the transmitted values of peacemaking, compassion, reverence for creation, and other timeless legacies. A contemporary outgrowth in terms of academic program choice is SLC’s undergraduate degree program which prepares students for leadership roles in church ministry, increasingly taken up as a satisfying career path for lay men and women. Accordingly, with all majors in the arts and sciences and professional studies divisions, academic programs ranging from business management to preparation for teaching, are infused with a framework for ethical decision-making, problem-solving, critical analysis, and communication skills, hallmarks of a liberal arts education.
