Seton Hill University

Greensburg

Seton Hill has been educating students since 1885, and has long been known for the academic strength of its liberal arts program, its leading stance on the use of mobile technology in higher education, its signature degree programs in the health sciences and the visual and performing arts, its dedicated faculty and personal attention to students, and its charming campus in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania. \r\n \r\nIn 2010, the University received international attention for its new Griffin Technology Advantage Program, which provides an Apple iPad to all full-time students and a MacBook Pro to all full-time first year students. Students have complete access to these mobile technologies for classes as well as at all times for personal use. After two years, Seton Hill replaces the laptop with a new one that students can take with them when they graduate. With this technology at their fingertips, students create personal just-in-time learning and research environments, stay in touch with professors, advisors and classmates, engage in hybrid and fully online courses, and enjoy 24/7 access to a world of collaborative learning and research tools. Through this program students also learn and practice the technological skills they’ll need in the twenty-first century workforce. Seton Hill faculty members, who are equipped with the same mobile technology as the students, receive continuous training on the best use of modern technology to expand learning opportunities.\r\n \r\nExceptional offerings in the health sciences include a “high school to med school” program that enables qualified pre-med students to earn an undergraduate degree and a medical degree in as little as seven years. The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine opened a new medical school site on Seton Hill’s campus in 2009, and Seton Hill pre-med freshmen have the opportunity to reserve a seat in the new medical school as soon as they are accepted to Seton Hill’s Pre-Med Program and to move from undergraduate work to medical school in as little as three years. In 2010 the University opened its new ultramodern Center for Orthodontics, which provides direct care to patients in Seton Hill’s community while training resident dentists to become orthodontists. The University’s Physician Assistant Program is also well known for its rigor; program graduates in the past 10 years have a 96% first-attempt pass rate on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam.\r\n \r\nThe performing arts have been an integral part of the Seton Hill experience since the school awarded its first two degrees – both Bachelors of Music – in 1919. In 2009, the University opened its new Performing Arts Center in Greensburg’s historic cultural district. The Performing Arts Center contains two professional performance venues, the Reichgut Concert Hall and Ryan Theatre, in addition to theatre, dance and music classrooms, rehearsal rooms and technical areas that include the best equipment for learning and performing from Steinway pianos to the latest in lighting, sound, video and acoustics. In 2010, Seton Hill became one of only 116 colleges and universities and music schools in the world to receive the prestigious All-Steinway designation.\r\nSeton Hill’s 200-acre main campus, located on a wooded hilltop above Greensburg, Pennsylvania (35 miles from Pittsburgh), features a mix of new and turn-of-the-century buildings, all of which are equipped with modern features and technology. The university has recently expanded its campus into downtown Greensburg’s cultural district, and this new downtown campus includes Seton Hill’s new Performing Arts Center, Center for Family Therapy, and Visual Arts Center. \r\n \r\nSeton Hill has a 90% job placement rate after graduation across all of its programs, and 36% of graduates pursue other educational options, including graduate and professional schools.\r\n
