Roosevelt University
Chicago
Roosevelt University was founded in 1945 and named in honor of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. From its beginning, Roosevelt pioneered the concept of making higher education available to all students who could qualify academically regardless of their social or economic class, racial or ethnic origin, sex, or age. This ideal attracted Albert Einstein, Albert Schweitzer, Eleanor Roosevelt, Marian Anderson, and Pearl Buck to the University’s first advisory board. Today, Roosevelt remains dedicated to the enlightenment of the human spirit through educating socially conscious citizens for active and dedicated lives as leaders in their professions and their communities.
