According to the school, Newberry College is a small, private, residential, co-educational Christian college with a diverse student population, that offers baccalaureate degrees in twenty three majors, thirty-two minors, and twenty-seven areas of concentration. Founded in 1856, the College is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and the National Association of Schools of Music. Core courses emphasize liberal arts, sciences, and technology. Most degrees are awarded in business administration, social sciences, education, physical education, and communications. The College has a radio and television station, and offers fourteen NCAA Division II sports.
