Nazareth College
Rochester
Founded in 1924, Nazareth College is independent and co-educational, with a rigorous core curriculum firmly rooted in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Nazareth’s three professional schools – Education, Health and Human Services, and Management – offer a broad range of career-oriented programs whose graduates are in high demand in the Rochester market and beyond. With more than 45 undergraduate majors and 20 areas of graduate study, the College strives to provide an education rooted in high intellectual, ethical, and aesthetic values. Nazareth has a student/faculty ratio of 12:1, an average class size of 19, and its faculty members are noted for their dedication to student success. It is not unusual to see faculty-student groups eating lunch together as they brainstorm a class project, or find classrooms used on weekends for professor-led study groups. The College places a strong emphasis on civic engagement. More than 91 percent of our undergraduates participate in community service opportunities. The Dr. Robert A. Miller Center for Off-Campus Learning features both an active internship office, a Center for Service Learning, and a Center for International Education. The College is increasingly “going global”, with long and short term study abroad programs for all majors at locations spanning the globe. Most recently, the College has partnered with universities in India, Japan, and Hungary for intensive programs in business, nursing, and other areas. Nazareth’s athletics department offers 23 varsity level teams from equestrian to track and field, and intramural games in a variety of sports are a daily feature every evening on campus. A new 2,200 seat stadium opened in 2004, featuring an all-weather outdoor track and field oval, athletic training facilities, and a spacious fitness center. If you are interested in graduate school, Nazareth offers strong programs in education, business, and health care, including a doctoral program in physical therapy as well as master’s programs in creative arts therapy, social work, human resource management, and many others. The College’s tuition is below the national and state average for private institutions, and financial aid for Fall 2009 totaled more than 18 million dollars, with 100 percent of our students receiving some form of financial aid. As it enters its 86th year, Nazareth is revitalizing itself by planning for new programs, constructing state-of-the-art academic and athletic facilities and providing comfortable well-equipped residence halls for a new generation of students.
