Monmouth University
\r\nMonmouth University is a first-tier, dynamic private university that empowers students to reach their full potential as leaders who are able to make significant contributions to their community and society. Small classes, which allow for individual attention and student-faculty dialogue, together with careful academic advising and career counseling are hallmarks of a Monmouth education. A ratio of 15 students to each professor ensures active and engaged learning. \r\n Monmouth boasts a diverse student body comprised of about 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students. For those wishing to experience residence hall living, on-campus housing is guaranteed for first-year students. \r\n Professional, liberal arts, and graduate programs are offered within the Leon Hess Business School; the School of Education; the Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences; the Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies; the School of Social Work; the School of Science; and the Graduate School. \r\n There are unique academic program opportunities within the School of Science, including software engineering (one of nineteen accredited programs in the United States), medical technology, marine and environmental biology and policy, and computer science. Undergraduate students in the sciences are involved in hands-on original research projects in student-faculty collaborative research teams. Monmouth’s undergraduate researchers are presenting award-winning research at regional, national and international conferences and earning co-authorship with faculty on peer-reviewed publications.\r\nAnd regardless of major, highly qualified students may also be invited to join the Honors School. Also, about ten percent of incoming first-year students enroll in one of Monmouth’s five-year baccalaureate/master’s programs. These programs are offered in business, computer science, criminal justice, education (certain programs), English, history, political science/public policy, psychology/school counseling, social work, and software engineering.\r\n At Monmouth, students and faculty connect. In and out of the classroom, ideas are nurtured and then become real, hands-on experiences’making a meaningful difference in your life and in the lives of others. Putting learning into action is what makes education come alive. \r\nExperiential education, which includes study abroad, select service learning projects, dedicated experiential coursework, internships, or cooperative learning experiences, is a required part of the undergraduate curriculum and is a way Monmouth separates itself from many other universities. By the time they graduate, more than seventy percent of Monmouth students have completed a practicum, internship, co-op, or similar ‘real world’ experience; only forty-six percent of graduating students at comparable institutions have done this according to the 2010 National Survey of Student Engagement. \r\n Monmouth University is located in the New York metropolitan area, which is home to many prominent firms that are leaders in the technology, media, and financial industries. This allows students access to exceptional hands-on learning opportunities.\r\nAdditionally, Monmouth University is one of the fastest-rising universities in its category (Regional Universities North) of the U.SNews & World Report rankings of ’America’s Best Colleges’ over the last decade. The University can also be found in the latest edition of The Princeton Review’s Best Colleges. Monmouth University’s Leon Hess Business School is also included in the recent edition of The Princeton Review’s Best Business Schools.\r\n
