Mansfield University of Pennsylvania
Mansfield University traces its heritage back to 1857, when Mansfield Classical Seminary opened. In 1862, Mansfield became a state normal school. In 1927, it became Mansfield State Teachers College, and in 1960, it broadened its degree offerings and became Mansfield State College. In 1983, it became Mansfield University. A four-year public liberal arts, co-educational, fully accredited institution; Mansfield offers more than seventy undergraduate degree programs. Through its Office of Graduate Studies, the University also offers master’s degree programs in art education, education, elementary education, library science and information technologies, music education, nursing, and special education. The University offers the advantages of a private-college environment at a public-school cost.
