Hamline University
Saint Paul
Hamline University was founded in 1854 as a ‘new American university’ dedicated to the following mission: to provide knowledge, values, and skills to those who wish to prepare for a life of leadership and service to their society and the world. The founders’ greatest hope was that this university would have far-reaching benefits for humanity. Today, Hamline University remains dedicated to this mission and to the tradition of pioneering it has inspired for over 150 years. The Hamline University mission is brought to life by the words of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism: ‘Do all the good you can, by all the means you can / In all the ways you can, in all the places you can / At all the times you can, to all the people you can / As long as ever you can.’
