According to the school, Charleston Southern University is a comprehensive, liberal arts institution with more than 30 graduate and undergraduate degrees, 17 NCAA athletic teams and 36 student organizations. CSU, founded in 1964, has grown to serve a student body of nearly 2600 undergraduate students and about 400 graduate students. The university offers a variety of liberal arts undergraduate and graduate majors and the following degrees: associate of arts, bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, master of arts, master of science and master of business administration. The university is affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The university’s mission is ‘promoting academic excellence in a Christian environment.’ CSU’s vision is ‘to achieve regional distinction as an institution of higher learning with its primary emphasis on excellence in teaching, dedication to the discovery and enrichment of talent within a broad spectrum of capable university students, endowing them with a Christian vision of life and equipping them for significant leadership and service.’
